According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics over the past five years there have been between 60 and 100 HOM births each year.

There were 4475 sets of twins born in 2013 representing 1.5% of all births and 75 sets of triplets and higher order multiples representing 0.02% of all birth in Australia. Thus the chances of having HOM’s is 1 in 4,047 births (according to 2013 ABS).

Triplet mum and AMBA Communications Director Ali Mountifield says, “When we look at the data available, we estimate the probability of an Australian couple naturally conceiving identical triplets is around 1 in 76,269 births or 0.0013%” according to 2012 HOM statistics.
